For years, the local community have been pleading for the alleyway between Gladstone Street and Manse Road in Hadley to be closed.
The alleyway is poorly lit, poorly maintained and a magnet for crime and antisocial behaviour.
In February 2026 the unthinkable happened and a school girl was sexually assaulted in the alleyway by two men in the middle of the day, in broad daylight.
- Our borough councillors have been asked to do something about the alleyway but it's still open.
- Hadley & Leegomery Parish Council has been asked to do something about the alleyway but nothing has changed.
- Telford & Wrekin Council have been asked to close the alleyway and have refused.
Research cited by Telford & Wrekin Council shows that crime can be reduced by up to 43% by closing problem alleyways — they've done it elsewhere in the borough but refuse to do it in Hadley.
Sign our petition and help get this dangerous, unwanted alleyway closed before it claims another victim.
